Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the US has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

Additional Developments

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a number of missiles," it added.

The statement noted wreckage landed in a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
