Inter forward Lautaro Martínez netted a late double to earn his team a 2-0 victory at Pisa, keeping the visitors very much involved in the Serie A championship battle despite a somewhat shaky performance.

Led by manager Cristian Chivu, Inter currently sit third in the standings with 27 points total, tied with second-placed Roma and only one point behind leaders Milan. Meanwhile, Pisa hold the 18th position with 10 points.

Nonetheless, they were forced to fight all the way by newly-promoted Pisa. The hosts created plenty of chances, but a clinical Inter scored the opener in the 69th minute mark when Argentinian Martínez drilled a first-time shot into the roof of the net. The forward then finished from close range with seven minutes remaining.

Inter’s ability to convert even with pressure proved crucial in earning three points.

Across in Spain, Real Sociedad staged a thrilling fightback from 2-0 down to equalize at home against Villarreal, only to lose to a late strike five minutes into stoppage time.
