The British player advanced to round three in three Grand Slam tournaments Grand Slams this year. Britain's Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from her remaining competitions of the year as a result of a health issue she has been fighting over the past 10 days. At 22 years old had planned to participate in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to recover ahead of launching plans for the 2026 season. Those preparations will involve coach Francisco Roig, as the pair will keep partnering for the upcoming season. The tennis professional had her blood pressure taken during her first-round match versus Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and retired when losing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day. She needed once more medical attention at this week's Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round. She was also playing with clear difficulty in the final set versus Zhu owing to a lower back issue that has affected her during parts of the season. Those results followed a positive campaign, in which the player advanced into the international top 30 for the first time since her previous ranking, finished with a trio of defeats. The athlete was close to victory with three match points then was defeated by American player Jessica Pegula in round three in Beijing last month. Raducanu won 28 victories this year and reached the semi-finals in the Washington tournament, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami Open in March. As Britain's top player advanced to the quarters of a premier WTA event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route prior to a loss in a three-set match to Pegula, ranked fourth. Her coach was trainer Mark Petchey between Miami and Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in in time for the US Open. The initial agreement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was through the season's conclusion but the collaboration persists, with planned training sessions for the end of the year. She mentioned that the trial session with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy. She nearly succeeded to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati during August. Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she made the third stage prior to losing to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
