American skiing icon Lindsey Vonn states she will be "in a good place" for the upcoming Winter Olympics, following earning a podium spot for the fourth instance in her last five World Cup competitions. The 41-year-old, who last week set a record by becoming the most senior racer to win a downhill World Cup winner, finished third in the super-G in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This marked her one hundred and forty-second career World Cup podium finish. Strong Return in Val d'Isere Returning to the iconic venue for the first occasion in almost a decade, Vonn crossed the line in a time of 1:20.60. She was 0.36 seconds behind winner Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson taking second place. "I didn't quite have the right line on the first jump," Vonn remarked. "Subsequently, I skied well. I'm pleased with my performance today, in contrast to in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was not aggressive enough." This performance was her second podium at Val d'Isere over the weekend, having also claimed bronze in the downhill race on Saturday. An Incredible Return from Retirement Vonn ended her career in February 2019 due to ongoing knee problems. However, she returned to racing in late 2024 after a major knee surgery. With less than two months remaining until the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, which are scheduled for 6-22 February, Vonn's form are timely. She has an Olympic gold and two bronze medals in her collection and is firmly on track to represent the United States at the 2026 Games. "When we get to Cortina, I will be in a good place," Vonn affirmed. Chasing More Titles Alongside her Games aspirations, Vonn is also hoping to add to the four World Cup titles she has secured over a career spanning two decades. She currently holds a substantial lead at the summit of the downhill World Cup rankings and is ranked fifth in the super-G World Cup table. This current World Cup campaign includes a total of nine races taking place before the season finals in Kvitfjell, Norway on 21 March 2026.
