The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami Dade County Leader.

It might not have been at the same level as sparing Thanksgiving turkeys, but the county's top official had her own Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. Clemency is justified for her. Her criminal record is spotless,” stated the mayor in a speech with inescapable allusions to the sheer volume of pardons issued since the onset of a new presidential term.

“Except perhaps for eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “Let this swine have a prosperous future free from concern.”

The event, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of eating roast pork during the holidays, was established to emulate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The animal, contributed by a first responder, was christened after the current slang trend of young people shouting “six seven” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often seemingly at random. The trend became so pervasive that a prominent word reference recently named “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Peaceful Retirement

The pardoned swine is now scheduled to spend its days at a countryside refuge “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to open the festive period,” said Eric Castellanos, in a notably cheerful message.

“It represents the essence of Miami: vibrant, varied, and rooted in traditions that bring people together. Annually, we are delighted to mark heritage and mercy in a way only Miami can.”

Guests enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach fritters and Cuban coffee as they marked the swine's new lease on life.
