A campaign is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The project hopes to send support to communities in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.

An Opportunity for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”

Resilient Spirit of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.

“It occupies a very special place for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Track's Background and Star-Studded Lineup

The track was produced in the wake of a major charity concert held in late summer. Originally intended to be performed and recorded live, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.

The impressive roster of musicians contributing to Lullaby encompasses a range of acclaimed names from the industry. All took part in the earlier concert, which managed to collect a substantial amount for charitable causes.

Final Touches and Availability

Lullaby was crafted by a team of talented individuals. The track features a combination of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.

The organizers behind the project have stated that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These resources will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.

“We don’t have a specific target,” a figure explained. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Naturally, the more the merrier. It all goes out to Gaza.”

The situation in the territory was characterized as its profound destruction, with a huge proportion of property described as destroyed or damaged.

“Given that reality, a handful of millions doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is first of all making this cause better known and proving that another narrative exists.”

The track is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made accessible to view on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
